Meet the Team
Jenna Grunwald ‘19 (Philomath, OR – Half-Marathon)
I know how daunting the cost of college can be, especially at a private liberal arts school like CMC. I also know how incredible CMC is and that anyone would be lucky to attend. I think it’s important that students’ decisions aren’t largely directed by money and that’s why financial aid is so important. I love running and running for a good cause is even better!
Charlie Harris ‘19 (Davis, CA –Marathon)
I’ve been a competitive runner for years, but I’ve never done a marathon before. I’m excited to finally have a chance to complete this distance. CMC financial aid has also supported my education here, and I’m happy to help raise money so that future students can have the same opportunities I’ve had.
Alison Hong ‘19 (Palos Verdes, CA – Half-Marathon)
I am excited to take part in an initiative to raise money for financial aid while doing something fun with friends! My last half marathon was freshman year so it only seems right to end my time at CMC with another!
Emma Houston ‘19 (Lexington, MA – Half-Marathon)
My four years at CMC have been some of the most positive and influential of my life. As a senior, I want to make this experience possible for as many students as possible!
Bryn Miller ’19 (Sudbury, MA – Half-Marathon)
After watching friends struggle with tuition costs throughout college, I’ve become passionate about improving financial aid; helping the students I tutor at a local high school navigate the college process has reinforced my resolve to do so. I love to run, and I was inspired by CMC’s 26.2 initiative in 2015. I’m excited to harness the energy of CMC’s active student body to help raise money and awareness about such an important cause!
Matt Psaltakis ’19 (Poolesville, Maryland —Marathon)
I’ve run competitive cross country and track & field for the past 8 years. It’s about time I started using my running experience to help others, and making CMC more affordable for more students is a cause I’m strongly behind.
C.C. Schwab ‘19 (San Diego, CA – Half-Marathon)
I am excited to be running the OC Half-Marathon on behalf of Claremont McKenna College. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness and give back to the school.
Ryan Bellissimo ‘20 (Riverside, CT – Marathon)
I’m running for my friend Alex, an avid runner, who passed away last Christmas.
Bryan Carlen ’20 (Los Gatos, CA – Half-Marathon)
I’ve loved running since I was in the third grade, and also believe Financial Aid is a crucial part of CMC and its community. What a way to combine both!
Kyle Halbrecht ’20 (Alamo, CA – Marathon)
I believe supporting financial aid and fundraising for it is a necessity in order to allow for a more diverse study body with a broader range of backgrounds, voices and opinions. In running the marathon I will be able to support this cause as well as push myself.
Lisa Hao ’20 (Palo Alto, CA – Half-Marathon)
I believe that financial aid is extremely important to create a more diverse, stimulating environment at CMC. I hope that applicants of all backgrounds can see CMC as a viable choice for college! I’m also excited to challenge myself to run a half marathon and see how I do!
Seth Taylor-Brill ’20 (Charlotte, NC – Half-Marathon)
Hi, I’m running this because I like running. Please support us 🙂
Eda Garcia ’21 (Houston, TX – Half-Marathon)
I am currently on financial aid and I believe that it is something very important. If it were not for the money that is raised through these events, there would be a lot of students who would not be able to attend college, including myself.
William Frankel ’21 (Shaker Heights, OH – Half Marathon)
Getting fit and having fun!
Anna Green ’21 (Fairfield, CT – Half-Marathon)
I wanted to raise money for this event because it’s such an important cause. I have always wanted to run a half marathon and this seems like the perfect time.
Anne Jang ‘21 (Irvine, CA – Half-Marathon)
As an athlete, I have also wanted to run a marathon. As a student on financial aid at Claremont McKenna, this is an opportunity that allows me to support a cause that directly affects me and my peers.
Sami Murphy ‘21 (Irvine, CA – Half-Marathon)
I am excited to run for a great cause that will benefit our community and happy to represent Claremont McKenna during the race because it has become such a special place for me and provided so many positive opportunities during my time here.
Meyyammai Muthiah ‘21 (Chennai, India – Half-Marathon)
Drew Watson ‘21 (Carmel, IN – Half-Marathon)
I’ve never ran a half marathon before and would like to try.
Rachel Keady ’22 (Los Gatos, CA – Half-Marathon)
I am interested in participating in the half marathon because I really want to challenge my running efforts more, and at the same time I can help make CMC more accessible for students of all backgrounds!
Arielle Lui ’22 (Jackson, TN – Half-Marathon)
I have always wanted to run a marathon, so when I saw that I could run and raise money for CMC, I thought this would be the best time to do so. I am on a scholarship at CMC and would not be here otherwise. If this fundraiser can give more students that opportunity or can make the student experience better, then I would feel as though I’d done something to give back to a community that has done a lot to support me.
Marisa Mestichella ’22 (Bellevue, WA – Half-Marathon)
Financial aid is incredibly important and high education should be accessible to everyone. Plus running is fun!
